It’s only the beginning of July, but a heat wave has struck Los Angeles and each day is hitting record breaking temperatures. We had no choice but to pack ourselves up and head to the beach for the day. We have both been wanting to explore the Malibu beaches and because it was too hot to leave our dog Havana at home we chose a beach she could also enjoy. Not to mention beach days are extra fun with her. Leo Carrillo is an “on lease” dog beach which was fine because Havana prefers to spend most of the day sitting between us. Exhibit A:
We arrived around noon and the $12 parking lot was full, so we parked along PCH. That always makes me a little nervous, but it turned out being okay. We packed a lunch, snacks, and plenty of water for us and Havana. They have showers which is great for Havana to drink from and I also plan on bringing a little soap to scrub her off with next time, so we don’t have the wet dog smell on the drive home.
This beach was nice, but there isn’t much sand and we ended up leaving around 5 o’clock after our setup was swept up by the ocean’s tide. Luckily we didn’t lose anything, but my latest edition of Real Simple did get splashed.
It was a great way to beat the heat. I enjoyed reading magazines under my umbrella, Henri enjoyed a nap, and Havana enjoyed digging.
